BEHIND THE LENS

My passion for photography started in my teens. Perhaps earlier, but it was truly when I took my first photography class in high school. I couldn't believe that I could make a camera out of a Cracker Jack box...that's when I was hooked.My parents weren't sure of photography as a career choice....so.....I became a technology geek. Along with my geeky world, I continued to take photography classes thoughout my life, and for that I am very grateful. Together, they have allowed me to be a part of ever-changing media technologies.In 2008, I made the life changing decision to launch simplytaken by maria. Since then, I have had the priviledge to document life's most precious moments, many of which are represented here in my portfolio. The joy of waking up in the morning to the smell of Cuban coffee, after working into the wee hours, is a dream come true for me. It's my passion, love, and best of yet, my life. I thank my family and friends everyday for their encouragement and support.
